Industrial Warehouse
"We should go, before we run into another one of these things."

Eve nodded determined to put as much distance between them and the beasts trying to murder them. She only wished she knew how many were left or even where a good hiding place would be. Eve knew it would be impossible to find a place where these monsters wouldn’t be able to find them. The Kreelocks were crawling all over the place and finding a safe place without them noticing would be impossible. No matter where they went the Kreelock’s always seemed to be able to find them. Eve looked over at Alex who was gathering the wrench and noticed that her shield that drove away the Kreelock was now gone, any sense of safety she had was now extinguished. Eve was glad that Alex was still willing to stick with her after her magic trick she did. Eve did not know how she produced the shield but wished she knew how than Eve would be able to help get rid of the other Kreelocks. All she could do now was hope that when the time came again she would be able to draw off the attacking Kreelocks.

As her and Alex headed away from the Russian and the other dead Kreelocks Eve was wondering where the remaining few monsters were and also where were the other arcanists. She was certain the beasts would only wait so long before attacking again. They were determined to kill at least her and Alex and she was certain there were more Kreelock’s attacking the others. Maybe they were trying to lure them into a trap before attacking. Maybe they were all gathered together ready to attack at once. The thought made her nervous and every chance she had Eve would take a quick glance around her making sure that one of the hideous monsters were not trying to sneak up on them. The warehouse, however, was dark and looking for the giant beast was difficult in the mess. As the warehouse appeared to get much quieter than before Eve grew scared and proceeded further with caution. She made sure to walk closer to Alex, Eve felt safer near him. After all he saved her form one of the beasts already.

There was a low growl to her side and as Eve turned around she spotted a Kreelock that appeared out of nowhere, probably behind one of the piles of equipment filling the place. Eve shirked as the beast brought its hand down afraid that it was going to crush her. Instead it clamped its massive hand around her neck. She struggled to get the monster to release its grip but knew it was fruitless, it was just too strong. The Kreelock picked her up off of the ground and Eve kicked her feet around in the air as she continued to pull against its hand that was currently cutting off fresh air to her lungs.

”Cry for me?” Eve grew more scared once the beast spoke. She wanted to scream but her body prevented her from doing so. The hand wrapped around her neck prevented Eve from doing much else and all she could do was try to pry the fingers away from her neck. Eve had to make the beast release its grip soon or else it would cause her to suffocate.

She opened her mouth trying to gasp for air but no matter how hard she tried her lungs could not get the air they strived for. Eve’s surroundings started to swirl as her head spun from the lack of oxygen. Just when she was certain the Kreelock was going to suffocate her it loosen its grip and Eve inhaled deeply filling her lungs with much needed air. Her vision stopped swirling and Eve noticed that the Kreelock was grinning in amusement.

“Help!” Eve scream as the Kreelock started tightening its grip once more depriving her of oxygen. She didn’t know why the beast just didn’t crush her neck and move onto Alex. Out of the corner of her eye Eve saw Alex dealing with a Kreelock himself who appeared at the moment to be quashing him beneath its giant foot. She than realized that the Kreelocks weren’t planning on killing them right away. It was like a game of cat and mouse. The Kreelocks were like cats and she and Alex was their prey mouse. The Kreelocks were going to torture them before finally killing them. Eve tugged some more on the Kreelock’s hand but without success. She only wished she knew how to perform that spell again in order to save her and Alex’s lives.

'Pulling a Lovecraft'
Alternate Universe

The ground gave way under Alex. At least that's what it felt like. He had gotten maybe two steps in his direction before what could have passed for a round from a tank slammed into his chest and drove him breathlessly to the ground, the world a hurricane of motion and strange spots in his vision. The air rushed from his lungs and a crushing pressure replaced it. The thing spoke--which just made the curious day complete as far as Alex was concerned, before another vicious kick send stabs of pain through his abdomen--and he was damned sure he heard something crack under it. Alex could do little but curl in on himself, sputtering coughs as he heard the think's grating snort. The periphery of his senses yielded another sound too--feminine, choked cries, growing more and more desperate. He could see another pair of feet, which must have been as big as his head.

That's it. he thought. Like a bad horror movie. The monsters sneered viciously, seemingly driven on by bloodlust and fear. And there was nothing, nothing at all Alex could do. The attacking Kreelock pressed it's foot down on Alex's throat, and he felt the airways constrict again, pressed back against the ground. He sputtered, felt his face grow hot, and stared at the things snarling face, his eyes growing wide, every muscle tensing with the sudden need to breathe, to draw air again.

I can't... something stirred. I don't want to... It felt like the edge of his senses. No... 'Just let me out!' he swore he heard. Black holes appeared in his vision. A vision appeared, writhing, shapeless things, that slowly took form. Like a picture in a dream. Sound grow tinny and thin. He heard it once more, definitvely. Let. Me. Out.

The Kreelock's rictus grin spread as far as it's mis-shapen mouth would allow. Alex's eyes had begun to roll back into his head, clutching feebly at beast's foot. It would not kill the little man so painlessly, but he wanted to savor the fear. To make him beg for his mercy. Only at the precipe did it relieve the pressure, however faintly... it was to be the creature's undoing. Black, slickened tendrils had began to creep from the crevices and nooks of the shelving, drawing themselves like a hungry predator around the pair of Kreelocks. The rubbery, black tentacle raised itself to towever over the beast, and the beast bellowed, a mixture of rage and challenge, and the thing whipped around. Lightning fast, it whipped around the creature's body and hefted it off it's feet, banging it against the shelving unit, the ground--anything it could slam it into. The creature fought viciously against it, trying to pry it loose, but the thing's vice-grip held as it tried to crush the life out of it.

The Kreelock holding Eve was the second to be claimed by the mass. One minute it was in her vision, the next just gone. It faired better than the second, hissing and tearing at the thing as frantically as it could, fighting off the strikes from the bizarre mass that seemed to inflict them. The things were everywhere, writhing to seek out a target, whipping back and forth, either to aid against the Kreelocks or seek something new.

Alex didn't know or understand what was happening in the slightest. He understood, on some primal level that he had brought this out, but the rational part of his brain rebelled against it. This was beyond belief. It was the stuff of nightmares, the stuff of sheer insanity. This, rationally, could not happen.

The rational part of his brain was not very helpful today. He went with instincts. Struggling around the mass of things--stumbling over Lovecraftian horrors and dragging Eve to her feet, any attempt at speaking little more than a sputtering cough, and just dragging her away. The Kreelocks yowled--in pain, in frustration, or simply some alien sense that prey was getting away. He didn't know why he knew, but those things wouldn't be around for long

Eve felt the pressure applied around her throat once more but try as she might she did not have the strength to try to fight back. Her arms that were trying to pry apart the fingers now hung by her sides sore from the struggle and her legs were no longer kicking. She merely hung there in the Kreelock’s grip as it tightened its grip for what she guessed was the last time. The Kreelock was growing bored from her lack of struggle and no longer found any fun in his game. Eve waited for the crushing grip but it never came. The pressure around her throat lessened and the Kreelock’s attention was elsewhere. Eve tried to see what was distracting the beast but couldn’t until what appeared to be a black vine inched up the Kreelock’s broad shoulder. The vine curled itself around the beats’ large arms and chest binding it fast causing the Kreelock to panic and drop Eve. Upon impact Eve held out her arm out of instinct to break her fall. She felt pain shoot up through her arm and knew she must have broken it as she cried out in pain but her cries were drowned out by the sound of the growling and hissing Kreelock who was trying to fit off the black vines. The Kreelock was pulling and biting the tendrils but failing to free themselves amongst the tangle.

The Kreelock was thrashing around trying to break free from the tendrils pulling its legs and arms. Eve knew she had to escape quickly but her head was spinning and she felt aches and pain all over her body. If she didn’t move soon she was sure the Kreelock was crush her as it fought against the black vines. All Eve wanted to do was lay there and hope the pain would go away and she would soon be in her comfortable bed back at home. She wished it was all a dream, that everything that happened in the past few days hadn’t and tomorrow she would be heading back to class to continue her study at college. Eve lay exhausted on the ground before someone arrived and dragged her to her feet. She groaned as more pain shot through her arm but Eve gritted her teeth. She knew it had to be Alex saving her once more. Eve swayed on the spot as she tried to regain her balance and had to rely on Alex to help support her. The Kreelock behind them continue fighting the tendrils but Eve could see that they were losing the fight. All she wanted to do that moment was get as far away from the Kreelock’s as possible.

Eve held her arm close to her chest hoping it would ease the pain but it didn’t. Each step set fresh waves of pain through her arm. After awhile she could not take the pain anymore and had to stop walking. “Alex, I think my arm is broken” Eve said through her teeth. She knew there wasn’t much he could do to help since they were in a warehouse with limited resources.

Post  Lorelei Ashford Tue Apr 20, 2010 6:34 pm

...It Takes Two
Industrial Warehouse, Alternate Reality

Souls had been woven and the creature was now at her complete command. A smirk curled at the corners of her perfect lips as the beast towered above her head while it waited for her orders. It may have been two years since the mana had flowed freely through her veins, but it was quite obvious that she adjusted quickly to the change. No time had passed for Lorelei Ashford and yet the memory of those dark days still burned in the furthest reaches of her mind. She was as strong as ever, if not stronger--the perfect embodiment of the long tradition of what the Ashford's stood for. Her father would have been so proud of her if he could see her. Destiny had been reshaped for the daughter of Devlin and Kayla, she was never supposed to be head of her family. There had been four enchanters in her generation; William as the oldest, followed by Lorelei and Michael, and the youngest Annabella. The family's survival should have been set and yet she was the last one remaining. It would be up to her to make sure their line didn't die with her. At the present moment, very little made sense to her. The conjurer had teleported them somewhere, but there had been no prior warning. No inkling of where the arcanists had been sent. Nothing about this place seemed right or familiar to her. Lorelei was a control freak, a fact that was obvious to anyone who would meet her. She was a leader not a follower and she absolutely hated being out of the loop. The puzzle was incomplete and the ones that could give her the answers she wanted either wasn't there, trying to kill them, or didn't have the ability to inform her. For once, the value of a diviner seemed apparent despite her utter distaste for them--ironic of course.

Her heart pounded against her chest as a rush of adrenalin had overcome the enchanter. Despite the danger she was facing, Lorelei relished the thrill that had overcome her. Fitted jeans clung to her smooth hips as dust and dirt covered the soft material. Ever since she had reached the Penthouse she had been on autopilot. Her actions were reactions to her surroundings as one event lead seamlessly into another. With no choice but to go on, she had to keep the others together. Shouts and cries echoed off the walls as the ancient arcane magic was released on their attackers. It would seem the toddlers had the ability to draw from their mana and create a physical entity. The Ancients had been dormant for so long, why now? Why couldn't they restore the bloodlines when the elders disappeared? The arcanists could have avoided all the death and destruction that had fallen on the Azoth Estate. Wouldn't that have made more sense? If the Ancients had the power within them to revitalize the ancient powers, why didn't they act sooner? Lorelei never really believed in any form of God, she knew something or someone had blessed the Ashford line but that being had long been gone--at least they were in her mind. Yet, here she could taste the rippling mana In the air--conjuration, abjuration, and there were still others who had not tapped into the arcane pool that connected them all.

At the sound of Brayden's scream, emerald hues turned wide as her head immediately turned in his direction. "Help him!" A lithe finger pointed in the direction of her wounded friend. While the creature's first priority was the enchantress's safety, it would do whatever she asked. The bond was for the beast's life until its death or her own. The spell was very powerful and her father had always taught her to use discretion with its use. She would only weave the bond if and when she had no other choice. Not every enchanter could produce the desired effect either; she had surprised Devlin and her uncle when she had been able to perform it. Watching as her friend's body was flung like rag doll, the advancing Kreelock would charge towards the fallen evoker with the intention of finishing the job. Arms raised above its head, black beady eyes would widen as claws sunk into its back. Knees would give way as the creature fell lifelessly to the floor as her pet remained, blood dripping from its hand. A gaping hole with torn skin could easily be seen on the fallen enemy. Running in the opposite direction, Lorelei knew Brayden could handle himself. Every bone in her body ached from her own previous crash landing. The others were somewhere as the shadows engulfed them all. There was no real guarantee, no actual way of knowing how many more of those things were still out there.

Breathing hitched as she almost tripped over her own feet as she stopped mid-stride. That couldn't be--it wasn't possible. Deep down In the pit of her stomach she could feel the familiar tug. As if it were instinct or someone guiding her, the enchanter pivoted on her heel as she stood out in the open. The evoker's voice was drowned out as her world came to a stuttering halt. She could never forget that face, that voice. Michael. Lorelei had held his dead body, had cried over his lifeless form. His spirit had left him, there was definitely no way he could still be alive. But there he was. "Michael!" Without thinking, her voice carried over the sounds of struggle. Her porcelain skin smudged with dirt, hair matted, she wouldn't allow her mind to question what stood before her eyes. She ignored intuition, all logical reasoning, all the questions she should have asked. When the Ashford's arrived at the Estate all that time ago, the two siblings had been at odds. He hadn't agreed with her decisions as head of the family and yet the two had always kept an eye on one another. The one time she had allowed him to disappear from her sight, she lost him. Everything had happened in a blink of an eye. She couldn't stop the inevitable, she had tried to. That was when she first realized that eventually the arcanists would all die; it had to happen. They would all go down fighting one way or another and she would do whatever it took to take as many of them down with her as she could.

Her distraction was apparent, she didn't even see the Kreelock behind her. Before she knew it, a hammer-like fist connected with the back of her head. The force causing it to whip towards the side and fall down to the concrete floor. Her guttural scream of pain could easily be heard as her hands connected with the floor first to break her fall. Blinking back the spots, she had been stunned by the force.

[ this has gone on far too long ]
ALTERNATE REALITY — THE WAREHOUSE

The duo of Kreelocks were easily a match for the remaining Abrams; it seemed that no matter how hard the experienced fighter was trying, they had always had one up on him. The rough fist of the Kreelock on his right connected with his jaw, knocking him back a bit and slinging his head in the opposite direction. A guttural groan spilt past his lips, a small trickle of blood falling down the wound inflicted by his own teeth. It seemed that Lorelei had managed to hear his shout for help, as the monster under her control barreled down a pathway in order to reach the Evoker. Within mere moments, a gaping hole rested where his assailant’s stomach should have been, its insides spilling to the floor with a sickening smack on the concrete. The sight brought forth bile within the pit of his stomach, though he quelled the feeling; he had seen a lot worse in his time. What he didn’t understand was the sudden strength of the creatures. Their origins were still unknown to him as well as the other Arcanists, though it was a wonder if they’d ever find out anything about the beasts. The ones they had fought previously, before being teleported to the hellhole, were nowhere near as strong as the ones that they were being attacked by currently. They weren’t exactly easy combatants, but the force behind the punch of the Kreelocks now was drastically increased. He couldn’t help but wonder if it was because of the sudden appearance of Michael Ashford and Lorelei’s doppelganger.

After Lorelei’s pet had helped him with the first Kreelock, it retreated to help the one who held it under control. That left one very pissed off Kreelock in his wake; quickly moving, the Evoker punched his opponent with a gloved fist, connected with his gut before twisting around to land a heavy kick to the side of its head. The creature hit the floor hard, smacking the concrete and raising a small cloud of dust from the impact. The fingerless black leather glove on his right hand tightened briefly, as Brayden pulled the power from the magical artifact hidden within. Metal began to craft from the palm of his hand, rapidly shaping into a sharp, long dagger. The glove had been a gift to him from his father on his eighteenth birthday; an artifact that had been in the family for generations, resting solely with the Evocation line and kept for times of need. After the battle of Sunset Glades, the remaining Abrams had returned to his family’s home and picked up his gift from the protected estate. It had proved countless times to be a lifesaver, never failing to protect the Evoker in his greatest times of need. Now, with the blade in his hand, he attacked the fallen creature, stabbing the blade down into the throat of the beast before ripping the head clean off. A normally difficult task was easy with the magically keen sword. Where the gruesome task would have caused a spectator to stop in disgust, the Abrams continued on; there wasn’t time for taking breaks.

He raced onward, towards Lorelei once he had heard that shrilling scream of pain. He didn’t have time to worry about the doppelganger and the ghost from the past; if he didn’t get to his friend fast enough, there could be dire consequences. It didn’t seem like any of them were safe. With the mass amount of Kreelocks still flooding throughout the abandoned warehouse, they needed to find out a plan and act on it quickly. Brayden still didn’t understand the Ancients sudden reappearance in the Material Realm; why had they chosen to bestow their gifts to a whole new line of Arcanists? The risk and torture that would soon envelope them all would bring nothing but utter chaos and bloodshed; they hadn’t been trained like the families had been since birth. One could say that even the lifetime of training hadn’t been enough to save the families, but it had been to save the select few that were still breathing and fighting. Brayden would die before he allowed the Shadowkind to ultimately win the war; that was why he had fought for so long to get back the powers that had been ripped away from him against his will. It was his birthright; the mana that flowed within his veins was a part of him and always had been. He was livid whenever his power had been stripped away. Without it, he wasn’t complete. He wasn’t going to allow that to happen again, new Arcanists or not.

Once he had reached his fallen friend, he bent down to help her up; even if she protested, he still grabbed hold of her arm and helped lift her to a standing position. He rushed forward towards her assailant, blade clenched tightly in his hand. The Kreelock punched forwards with his massive claws, though Brayden managed to side step the attack before plunging the long blade into its chest. The mana in his veins heated within, as icy energy raced from his palm and extended through the blade. The cool blade protruding from the Kreelock’s gut was coated with ice, which rapidly devoured the beast from its wound up. Ice bit into its flesh mercilessly, quickly casing the rough exterior in a solid cube of the substance. Brayden pulled back the blade, and the hole from the wound closed up hastily, leaving the Kreelock in a frozen prison. Without putting much more thought into it, Brayden lashed out, delivering a fatal blow to the entombed creature, which shattered his cage and left the once complete creature in an array of bloodied pieces scattered on the concrete floor. It was brutal, but it was necessary; they didn’t have much more time to sit and allow the Kreelocks any advancement in the battle. Turning to Lorelei, he gave a slick smile, not bothering to mention that he had previously been seeing two of her, and one of her dead brother. That would have made him seem on the verge of insanity. “You’re falling behind.”

He went off on his own, jumping atop the massive crates that were littering the warehouse. From his position at the top, he once again spied the doppelganger Ashford and the supposedly deceased Michael. The day kept getting weirder by the second. He glanced downwards, catching sight of a mass array of Kreelocks still waiting to attack those that had accidentally infiltrated their base. He wasn’t sure why they’d want to use the warehouse as a makeshift fortress for whatever their plans were, but he didn’t plan on allowing them the leisure of carrying out anything. Colorful sparks of energy leaped from his fingertips, dancing around his flesh before they took a violet shade. Another 1/3 of the army would soon be going down; the battle had been going on far too long. As he concentrated, the concrete floor beneath the group began to rumble, breaking apart and cracking underneath their feet. The stone began to quake, being torn to shreds before the ground beneath the creatures opened up. The created crater engulfed the demons, before the concrete slammed closed on its captives, blood seeping through the destroyed architecture. The violet energy ceased flowing around his body, leaving Brayden standing there on top of the crates, breathing heavier than it had been. With a spell like that, he’d need a breather before going up against anything else.

[ beyond the veil ]
ALTERNATE BRAYDEN — INDUSTRIAL WAREHOUSE

The vital difference that separated him from the harsh chaos ensuing within the walls of the warehouse was currently being held up in his arms. The four-year-old was plenty capable of watching out for himself—he had been raised to know right from wrong, and when it was acceptable to goof off—but with the madness that was shrouding over the occupants inside, Brayden Abrams didn’t want to take the chance of his nephew being in the crossfire. The child had been deposited in his arms while his mother and uncle—Brayden’s husband—ran inside to fight the creatures they were determined to stop. The heartbreak that they had all been through as a result of the war was seemingly never-ending. He wasn’t going to lose his nephew, too; the boy had been the light in the darkness for him. He had his marriage, but the Evoker had singlehandedly ruined that himself, for selfish reasons that he regretted but had gone through with anyway. Adjusting the little boy in his arms for a better hold, he pushed the thoughts of his selfishness to the back of his mind, focusing on the young child who held so much power within him. He was the center of everyone’s world, too precious to be hurt or living in the harsh environment that he was forcibly raised in with the Kreelocks being unrelenting. Brayden blew up his cheeks, holding his breath and crossing his eyes in attempt to make a funny face to get the child’s mind off of his mother’s location. The act elicited a giggle from Finn, who used his small hands to push his uncle’s cheeks together, making Brayden blow the air out at the act.

”Auntie Brayden, is Mommy okay?” The young voice never ceased to bring a smile on the Evoker’s lips. The simple speech warmed his heart, and in response Brayden raised the little boy up by his armpits, hoisting him high above his head and twirling him around. The laughter from his nephew was contagious; soon, Brayden himself was chuckling along at his actions. He brought the boy back down to chest level, holding him close before he answered the boy’s question. “Your mother is just fine. Did you forget how amazing she is, silly boy?” He used his right hand to pinch the child’s cheeks lightly, ruffling that brunet hair ever so slightly. Slender arms wrapped around his neck as their owner laughed, insisting that he hadn’t forgotten about his mother’s determination. As the boy’s lighthearted attitude brought him to start fiddling with the shoulder of his uncle’s jacket, the Evoker thought back to the problems he had caused in his own life. When his youngest sister Alison had died, he had found solace in the most unlikely of sources; the Ashford who he was married to that day. Recently, the two had been fighting due to Brayden’s own selfish nature; with Michael focusing on his sister and nephew, the Evoker was trying to cope with everything changing. He had found comfort in another; he was the center of attention for someone else rather than his husband, and once he had realized what he had gotten himself into, he had separated from the Ashford. Things were still complicated; though they had just tolerated each other before now, Brayden had made the decision to make the separation permanent. He had been unfaithful emotionally; he had broken his vow being selfish. Even still, he had refused to leave the family in the war. He wouldn’t leave his nephew with one less defense, which was the sole reason he was present now.

The tremor that rocked through the warehouse caught Brayden’s attention, alerting him once again to the disorder running rampant inside. Finn took notice of the energy eruption as well, and studied his uncle’s face as if to see whether or not he should be frightened. The man scrunched his face up in response, sticking out his tongue and attempting to take his nephew’s mind off of the action. The brunet child was distracted momentarily, though he knew that he couldn’t keep allowing his friends inside continue to go through the battle alone. “Do you want to go help out Momma and Uncle Michael?” He knew that he might be risking getting yelled at by Lorelei once they were back in the safety of the Ashford Manor, but he also knew that he could help end the battle they were fighting. Besides, he wouldn’t let any harm come to his precious nephew. The young boy nodded, as if filled with immediate excitement, and crawled onto his uncle’s back, wrapping his arms and legs tightly around the Evoker’s body, in a piggyback style. Brayden simply laughed, holding onto Finn closely as he walked towards the warehouse. The Kreelocks inside were in for a variety of pain if they had hurt any of the two that had accompanied them to their current location. Once inside, Brayden looked around for his sister-in-law, though through the onslaught of Kreelocks, he couldn’t without risking being caught up in the madness. He turned his head to face Finn in a side-profile, raising his index finger to press against his lips, warning the small boy to be quiet as they stealthily moved.

He made his way towards a stack of crates, which formed a mountain by themselves; still, they looked sturdy enough to hold the two without problems. Climbing atop and being careful so that Finn didn’t lose grip of his body, he stood in the shadows and looked out through the warehouse. He noticed two things at once: Kreelocks were terrorizing the area more than he thought them to be, and that there were way more people present than just the two who had ran inside and left him with Finn. “Stay still, okay? Hold on tightly.” Once his nephew had given him an agreeing nod, Brayden began to put to work the ancient mana that was stored within. The power surged inside, sparking out from his flesh but causing no harm to his nephew or himself; as he extended his hands, he felt the bones inside crack in ecstasy at finally being used in the battle. From the darkness where he stood, massive colorful bursts of energy ripped through the shadows, leaping towards a large number of Kreelocks at a flying velocity. The multicolored ricocheting energy slammed into the creatures, picking them up and ripping throughout their bodies as they were slammed into the concrete below. The hammer-like energy pummeled the beasts, chaotically tearing through them and leaving nothing in its wake. The explosions that traveled through the Kreelocks leapt for their comrades, tearing apart any unsightly creature that was causing a threat to any non-human in the warehouse. As a side effect, a large bright show of lights lit up the arena temporarily, searching for any last remaining Kreelock before dying out. His nephew giggled from his spot on his uncle’s back, begging the Evoker to ‘do it again!’ He smiled, promising to another time before he looked to spot the boy’s mother. With all of the monsters gone, they could officially get down to business – as soon as they found out just who the others were.

Alternate Reality

Eve was trying her hardest to push back the pain shooting in her arm. There were blood thirsty creatures all around them and ready to attack when they least expected. She had plenty of time after the beasts were dead to worry about her possibly broken arm. Eve looked over at Alex and knew that he was in no shape to continue on fighting. Alex looked bruised and battered and Eve was unsure of how much longer he could keep fighting and Eve knew she was no fighter. If it wasn’t for Alex there would be no way she would have been alive as long as she was. If they managed to get out of this situation alive Eve knew she would have to find some way of thanking Alex for everything he’s done for her. At the moment however she had to find a way of making it out of here alive. Eve looked all around her but there was no sign of the giant monsters. Maybe Alex scared them away with the spell he did. Just as Eve thought that she heard the pounding footsteps of another Kreelock looking for both her and Alex.

“We need to move” Eve said to Alex unsure of which way to go. She turned on her heels making an impulsive decision to turn right just as the ground started to shake and rumble below her. Eve let out a little shriek as she tried to maintain her footing but she was in no danger of falling. The ground was barley shaking to knock even a box off of a nearby self. Right before her eyes the ground started to break away forming a massive crack that the Kreelocks fell into. The Kreelocks were scattered throughout the crack, some were laying on their backs while a few remained standing but they all shared the same confused look that Eve did, they did not know what was going to happen next. In a blink of an eye the ground quickly came together squishing all in its path leaving only a bloody mess. The Kreelocks blood was seeping through the concrete, Eve turned away finally glad that the creatures were gone and also a little disgusted by what she had just witnessed. She only wished that someone would have done that sooner.

There was a changing of light out of the corner of Eve’s eye; she looked up only to see colors dancing above her head. “What on earth is that?” she asked out loud but knew she wouldn’t receive an answer. Alex was the only one nearby and he knew just about as much as Eve did when it came to spells or even what was going on but she was soon to find out. Eve was turning to face Alex when she heard a growl behind her only to turn around and see a giant beast towering over her with bloodlust in its eyes. There was no way Eve was going to get herself out of this situation. The Kreelock brought its muscular arm around as if to scoop Eve up only for the strange light above her head to hit the beast right in its chest knocking the towering monster off of its feet. The light engulfed the creature tearing the beast apart. Within a few seconds the light dispersed leaving nothing in its wake. Eve stood there frozen unsure of what to do. Did the light only attack the Kreelocks?
