Post  Lorelei Ashford Mon May 03, 2010 6:06 pm

Characters: Lorelei Ashford, Gavin Mitchell
When: August 2002
Where: Long Island, New York
Summary: Before the Elders disappearance and her family and friend’s murders, Lorelei Ashford was just another average teenager with a major secret. She was on the verge of starting Columbia University as the summer was quickly coming to a close. She was seventeen and ready to tackle the world despite the truth of her family. No one other than the arcane families knew of the arcane powers, not even Gavin Mitchell who had lived next door to her since she was a little girl. He was best friends with her cousin and would constantly be found at the Ashford Manor. No matter where she went, the twenty year old would keep his eyes on her.

…Those Summer Nights
Centre Island Beach, Long Island
A hint of the summer sun lingered as the full moon hung high in the night sky. Crystal dotted the black abyss as they twinkled above while reflecting off the calm waves of the ocean. Emerald hues drank in the sight before her as she stood on balcony of the beach house. The distant sounds of music and laughing barely registered on her mind. The summer was almost over, which meant her future would soon come knocking on her door. While Lorelei Ashford’s life could never be deemed as normal, this was as normal as it got. She went to a regular private school, with regular people, and regular boring lives. Her life was anything but, yet no one outside her family knew the truth other than the other families involved. They were stretched across the global as humankind was oblivious to their existence. That was how it had always been and how it would probably always stay. The enchantress didn’t mind, her life was a game after all—an act with its actors and actresses prancing around the stage. She was the writer and the director. She could control just how the scene played out without even batting an eye and no one would ever be the wiser. That thought brought a smile to her lips as the ends curled. Firelight danced against the gentle waves as a bonfire was set ablaze down by the shore. Many had already made their way towards it, but she stayed behind.

No one could ever claim she wasn’t a social butterfly; in fact she usually never had a moment to herself. She had managed to snag one of the most desirable prom dates in high school, yet she didn’t have a care for him. Serious boyfriends were just never something she considered when she could easily toy with whoever she wanted. They were weak minded, especially when she understood the intricacies of how it worked as she could easily bend anyone to her will. How was she expected to take anyone seriously if she could control them? That had always been her dilemma. While she loved having her abilities, she could never truly respect anyone who was easily susceptible to her charms. Her life was a mask to the outside world—her friends had no clue just what the Long Island princess was up to.

Ever since she was a little girl, her world had been opened up to a far greater one. Control and responsibility had been drilled into her. Her so-called friends never saw that. All they saw was a platinum card and a big house. It didn’t bother her in the end. There were others like her out there, which included one of her best friends Brayden Abrams. If anyone understood what she was going through, it would be him. Tilting her head to the side, long locks of auburn hair grazed the side of her cheek as a gentle wind picked up. Summer would soon end and she would be thrust into a new world, separate from her reality. College. She may not have chosen a school out of state, but the petite brunette wouldn’t be living at home. She was looking forward to new surroundings and a chance to escape the little box she had created for herself. It was really all she knew and it was high time for Lorelei to see the world from another angle.

Reaching up from the banister, her arms stretched above her head as hips swayed gently as she made her way around to the three short steps leading to the warm sand. Kicking off her heels, she bent to pick them up as she held them by the straps. She hadn't come alone, but the enchanter didn't seem to care where Jeremy had run off to. The second-oldest Ashford had quickly grown bored with the jock; the only thing he was good for was a decent prom picture. After all, that was what prom was all about--how good the person next to you looked. The emerald cotton halter-dress was a perfect match to her eyes as it hugged the smooth curves of her waist in an a-line cut and a deep v-neck. Her long legs ran for miles until the material cut off right at her mid-thigh. Arms were completely bare as she continued on where she assumed the others would most likely be at this time. She couldn't avoid the living forever and there were always ways to make her night a little more entertaining.

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Gavin Mitchell Mon May 03, 2010 7:47 pm

"Chug, chug, chug, chug!" Roared the entourage of young bachelors as they cheered on their friend, Gavin Mitchell. Olive eyes would be shut as the plastic blue cup was chugged down, filled with beer from one of the kegs he had brought to the party. Unlike the spoiled Long Island princess, Gavin just didn't give a shit about money, credit cards, or the high life. The most prized possession to the bad boy was family even if that included his shy and awkward twin brother, Skylar. Some would say Skylar had invested all of his time in books, computers, and comic books. Where as Gavin was all about the ladies and he had a long line of women on his arm. The smooth operator knew just what each one wanted. Yet, like Lorelei he too couldn't be bothered with committing to a relationship. He was a twenty-year old hot blooded male who was after one thing and one thing only, sex. Yet, the one girl who he was protective of was Lorelei Ashford. The two were good friends but not best friends for they often clashed on topics and discussions heatedly. It had been Skylar who had remarked that Gavin secretly liked Lora but of course the oldest Mitchell only scoffed at the accusation.

A black form-fitting wife beater would hug the wide expanse of his smooth, muscled chest like a second skin. While most of the others were outside by the bon fire, Gavin and his friends were busy inside. They weren't jocks but mostly motor heads interested in muscle cars, alcohol, and women. They were considered the rebels of their social class and not one gave a damn about it. The golden liquid of the beer would easily slither down his throat as it clashed down his stomach. Olive eyes would snap open obviously dilated and glassy. A quick wipe of his mouth would swipe the trace of beer off his full lips. Scotty was next in line to chug while Gavin moved to pick up his Corona by the stem of the neck to thirstily take a gulp.

A few of the girls tucked in the corner would giggle at his antics which only caused that playboy smile to broaden across his lips, revealing those pearly whites. A cocky swagger led him over to the two cheerleaders who had gone to school with him and Lorelei. "Hello ladies." His baritone voice crooned to them seductively as he leaned up against the book case that they stood next to. One of them would pull out their cell phone and Gavin immediately would steal it. His thumb scrolling down the address book before he grinned devilishly, "Why, Melanie, I think your phone is broken." She grinned back, her manicured nails would curl through her long, chocolate locks with interest before tucking it behind her ear with a giggle. "Is that so?" Her husky voice flirted back with him while the petite blonde next to her chuckled watching with interest. Gavin would nod in affirmation. "Yes." She stepped closer to him, brushing her ample breasts across his chest 'accidentally'. "And why is that?" Gavin didn't blink or even seem stunned as the feisty brunette brushed up across his taunt body. "Because I'm not in your address book." Simultaneously, both girls would giggle in unison at his flirtatious remarks and bold statements. A thick hand would coil around each girl snugly to pull them closer. "You ladies wanna go some place more quieter?" Both girls looked at each other as if debating their options. Gavin knew he was quite the stud of their school and every girl wanted him except one, Lorelei Ashford. But Gavin could never fathom even sleeping with Lorelei because she was such a bitch and that mouth of hers always ruined everything the moment it opened. Don't get me wrong, Lorelei had an amazing rack, long legs that stretched for miles, and a nice, shapely ass but it was her stubborn and pig-headed nature that was such a turn off. Gavin didn't want to debate for hours he'd rather be getting laid for that duration.

Yet, before Melanie or Jessica could reply Gavin had noticed Jeremy sitting on the couch with a girl next to him. Their lips locking passionately and his large hand was roaming across her leg to curl up and under the white summer dress she wore. Gavin's jaw clenched while both fists clenched. "That dumb fuck is gonna get it!" He roared as he stepped away from both of the ladies and stormed across the polished hard wood floors. His broad shoulders slamming into two guys who shouted and cursed at Gavin, who flipped them off with one single finger. Heavily absorbed with the girl next to him, Jeremy hadn't even noticed Gavin until the larger male yanked the jock up by the blue polo shirt and slammed his bare knuckles brutally into the bridge of his nose, causing the dark haired male's head to snap back with a groan. Blood would stream down Jeremy's face while his blue eyes opened and glared before he tackled into Gavin, causing the two of them to crash into the coffee table. The noise causing head's to turn as punches were thrown and Gavin would slam his elbow into the rib cage of Jeremy, having been taught by his father how to fight. "Fight!!" Yelled one of the girls on the other end of couch. Jeremy landed a few punches but it was Gavin who fought ruthlessly as his Irish temper had been provoked. His muscled body easily moving to straddle the other male as thick fingers would squeeze the air out of the dumb jock before slamming a fist into his temple. A horde of football players rushing in to rescue their buddy who tackled Gavin, slamming their own fists across his jaw, ribs, and forehead. Jeremy sat up, his cheek and eye bruising while he wiped the blood from his face.

"You stupid fuck, Mitchell!" Getting to his feet, Jeremy would watch as his football teammates held Gavin and slammed his fist into Gavin's gut, causing him to cough. A quick swipe of his fingers would grab the spiked hazelnut hair and yank it back, "I warned you once, Mitchell. Stay the fuck out of my business. Lorelei doesn't concern you, big boy." A vicious knee was slammed into Gavin's ribs causing him to suck in a breath. Gavin shook his head as he laughed. "What's so funny, Mitchell?" Gavin stood up as he licked the blood from his bottom lip, "What's so funny is Lora doesn't give a fuck about you, buddy. You were just a little pawn. You always thought you got under her skin but the truth is you're a worthless piece of shit living off of Mommy and Daddy's money. Do you honestly think you're gonna stand out? And you're definitely not going to get a scholarship with a busted knee so you won't be playing football anymore."

Gavin continued to laugh and Jeremy roared with rage as he threw a sloppy punch but Gavin blocked it with his elbow and slammed his black Sketcher shoe into the light denim jeans to connect with Jeremy's crotch. Jeremy sank to his knees as Gavin stood above him with a grin, "You and your jock friends make me sick. Your shit does stink and guess what you don't rule High School any more." Gavin threw another punch to connect with Jeremy's head, knocking him out. As the football players attempted to move in on Gavin once again his friends moved in to assist. Gavin's grin only growing as he stepped over the fallen Jeremy, "Pussy."

Gavin moved to grab his beer to chug it down once again. Sinking down onto the white sofa with a beer in his hand and two more girls moving to sit on either side of him. Their sandle stiletto's brushing across the black jeans he wore. Yup, summer was definitely interesting but so would college.

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Lorelei Ashford Wed May 12, 2010 5:50 pm

Life wasn't difficult for the enchantress; in fact everything came quite easily to her. She had the right friends, the right money, the right grades--everything was, for lack of a better word, perfect. What more could she possibly want? She didn't have a real care in the world. Her family was the most important thing in her life; at least that was what she was taught from a very young age. The other families, like her own, shared the same concept. Family always came first and the protection of that family was vital. The shadow realm would always be a cloud hanging over their heads, but together they could deal with the problem. The ancient brotherhood after them would never be able to find their home unless the location was revealed to them. As children they had been captured and the elders had taken the necessary precautions afterwards to make sure that never happened again. It didn't, and Lorelei had grown up in a stress free environment with the love and adoration of her parents. Unlike her older cousin William, she would not have to deal with the same burden of responsibility that would fall on his shoulders if anything ever happened to their parents. What else was there for her to worry about other than the worries of a typical teenager? Absolutely nothing, her abilities could easily hand the world over to her on a silver platter and yet she wouldn't allow herself to indulge. While her father Devlin might have profited from one of his suggestions to secure the Enchanter family's future, he insisted on discretion which was most likely in due part to her mother. Kayla may not have been a member of the arcane family bloodlines, but she was born into the Order of Arcane Protectors. Their job was to protect the secrets of the arcanists and the only way to ensure their safety was to remain underground. The more likely one was to use their powers; the risk of being discovered would grow exponentially. As the young enchantress would come of age, Lorelei would learn that lesson despite her occasional slip up when she saw fit to handle a situation.

A smirk would linger at the corners of her lips as she thought back to her most recent escapade--a particular brunette bimbo falling face first into the punch bowl of her own free will at last nights party. No one but her cousin knew the truth and he just simply shook his head in amusement. The eldest of the female enchanters never allowed anyone to have the better of her--she had been the first daughter since her great-grandmother Lorelei's time. That reason alone was why her parents had named her after her ancestor. From what her father had told her, she was the spitting image of her namesake in demeanor and looks. The woman had a will of her own and a silver tongue that could cut through steel. She had been the longest reigning Head of the Enchanter family and she had taken them to far greater heights than anyone previously. While the enchanter might not have been in direct line to assume command, her father always had faith in her abilities. He understood that even though her interests lay elsewhere, when push would come to shove Lorelei would come to terms with any situation and surpass their expectations. She had every asset and yet lacked a real purpose. High school had posed no real challenge for her as she only used a tenth of her brainpower. The teen drama of average lives had become exhausting and now she was faced with the next hurdle--college. She might have doubted the resilience of collegiate minds, after all they were no better than raging hormones, but she would be in new surroundings. Her life, while privileged, had been sheltered ever since she and the others were kidnapped. This was the first opportunity she could really be out on her own away from the family as a whole, despite Colombia University only being an hour and a half to two hours away. She had little desire to make the trip home everyday, which was why she was going to dorm. Outside her parents, brother, and cousins, Lorelei had no intention to keep in touch with anyone else. That was the beauty of higher education. No one would know her, her friends, her home and she could have a relatively normal life--it was a chance for a fresh start.

While being an enchanter had its perks, Lorelei's opinion of the human mind was low. It was weak and defenseless. Teenage boys were the most predictable and the easiest to control. Typically they only had one thing on their mind, which always ended in sex. A pretty face with curves was all it took and then they were hooked. Puppies on leashes that could easily be manipulated to her will. And yet, there had only been one who actually resisted her charms--Gavin Mitchell. He was the exception because he was like family to her. Her cousin William had been best friends with their next door neighbor since before she was born. They had gone to preschool together and after that the boys were inseparable. The Mitchell's might not have been members of the Arcane families but they were just as close. To the Mitchell's, the Ashford's were a normal suburban family living an average and ordinary life. Little did they know about the secrets kept within the household they had spent so much time in. Emerald hues twinkled in the dimming light as her thoughts turned to the eldest son. A gentle ocean breeze brushed across her bare skin as it caused her dress to flare slightly up and graze her exposed flesh. Gavin had always been a thorn in her side from the day she had met him. For whatever inane reason, he had taken it upon himself to be her watchdog.

The minute someone crossed the young Ashford, Gavin, William, and later on her younger brother Michael would step up to her defense. The petite enchantress abhorred the idea of any man or boy coming to her rescue and Gavin Mitchell was no different. Despite the relative tension that could easily spring between the two, she couldn't deny the fact that he was probably the only true friend she had outside the world of the arcanists. This fact alone might have earned him a place her circle, but in the end he was still just another typical male after anything he could find. Light poured out from the windows of the beach house as she heard a loud crash followed by a scream. Turning her head to the open sliding door, a brow rose in curiosity. Running footsteps could easily be heard as everyone clamored into the house to see just what was going on. Glancing at the bonfire and back, curiosity had overtaken her. Unconsciously, her feet had guided her back up the small set of stairs and to the open door. She couldn't see anything from her vantage point as everyone towered above her. Glaring at the solid back blocking her view, dark hues swirled as she whispered under her breath, "Move" and without a second thought, the command was made. The sea parted in front of her as if left a direct path for her line of sight.

Leaning against the doorframe, she shook her head as two familiar forms would exchange blows. Unbelievable--a mental sigh could easily be heard in the depths of her mind. Scanning the scene, Lorelei would pick up the pieces one by one. While everyone watched Gavin and Jeremy, her attention had been averted to the little tramp who had almost slept with the entire football team--Tracy. As if a light bulb had been turned on, everything else had made sense. Did she care? Not in the slightest. Jeremy, like all the others, was weak. She used him for arm candy, nothing more. So why did Gavin insist on becoming constantly entangled in her affairs? She didn't need a white knight to defend her honor. "She's mine Mitchell and there's nothing you can do about it. Accept the fact that you lost, she would never look at you twice." No one had noticed the Ashford daughter standing in the back of the ring and she left the two idiots to their own devices. She wasn't about to help Gavin's position; she had long ago learned that there was nothing she could do to curb his natural instincts. For whatever reason, outside the obvious, he insisted on imposing in her life. Jeremy might have had a point for Gavin to mind his own business, but she hated being treated like a doll above all else. She held all the strings, no one else and anyone that had tried to dictate her life would be sorry. Round eyes narrowed as everyone went back to their own business when the fight had seemingly come to a close. "How kind of you both to determine who has dominion over me and my feelings." Her voice carried over the din as she pushed off the wall and stepped further into the light. Porcelain skin glowed underneath the lamplights as she stood in between their path. She paused, as Jeremy would be huddled over, clutching his bruised ego. Through clenched teeth, he forced himself to stand up and close the distance between them. One arm was thrown over her shoulder as he glared in Gavin's direction before his tone changed and he softened. "Your mutt needs a leash, he got a cheap shot. I was looking for you though, where did you run off to?" She could detect mild curiosity as she could easily hear the forced impassive attitude.

Tilting her head back, a sugary sweet smile would be his only indication but Gavin would know better. "You're probably right about the leash." A soft chuckle was hidden underneath her painted lips; she didn't immediately answer the rest of his question. Slowly her gaze turned towards the hand massaging her shoulder, with her index and thumb, she seized his index finger as she peeled his sweaty palm away and despoiled it next to his side. "While I can easily understand your need to sleep with anything that walks, no one owns or controls me." She took a step back as fingertips had traced the line of his jaw before pulling back as her palm slapped him hard across the cheek--all the while her smile was present. The oo's and ahh's in the background were easily detected but she paid no attention to the eyes that were watching on. Candy coated words dripped from her lips as her hand fell to her side. "But don't worry though, I won't mention to anyone that you have only one testicle." Whispered words were not whispered at all as a purely innocent look graced her features.

The laughter in the room only grew as Jeremy's true colors showed once more. Without another word, he stormed from the room and she was left in the middle of a crowd. Without even glancing his way, hands were clasped behind her back. "As always Mitchell, you look like shit." She didn't need to turn around to see that he had been sitting there all this time with tweedle dee and dumb clinging to his biceps. Turning on her heel, she came face to face with the twenty-year-old wannabe playboy. "When I heard the crash, I should have known you were involved somehow. Why am I not surprised?" Emeralds easily detected the bruises that were quickly forming on his olive complexion as she ignored the onlookers. "I see as always you don't waste time." Despite the current situation, she looked completely at ease and perfectly calm like nothing had happened.

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Gavin Mitchell Wed May 12, 2010 9:29 pm

Peering up, Gavin would only grin largely as he had been compared to a dog. His head would lean back into the couch as he unleashed a soft howl sarcastically. He never cared what anyone said about him, at least he offered such a facade. Yet under all that hard and tough exterior, Gavin Mitchell was really a decent guy. Not many had witnessed such a miracle except William but Gavin had made his best friend promise him never to let on. The olive-hued playboy even had Lorelei fooled into thinking he was a real pain in the ass. Which the majority of the time he was but he never considered or even labeled her a doll. Gavin had witnessed dozens of times that Lorelei could take care of herself. It was Gavin's insistency on protecting Lorelei that often frustrated the auburn haired beauty. Yet, Lorelei's frustration or her wraith never scared the oldest Mitchell. However, her magical history or her double life had been concealed from him. Throughout his years of maturity he viewed Lorelei as the girl next door who got under his skin from time to time.

With a girl on each arm, Gavin still quietly observed Lorelei's interaction with her boyfriend, Jeremy. A lithe hand fell across his rock-hard chest as it massaged along the black fabric of his wifebeater. The motion grasping Gavin's attention onto the brunette next to him. "You know, Gavin, I could nurse you back to health." A hit-pitched giggle rolled as Gavin would smirk but his olive eyes slide right back over to Lorelei as she was speaking with Mr. Dick Head himself. The promiscuous brunette continued to babble on provocatively but Gavin had muted her inside of his mind. His eyes browsing down to Lorelei's lips to read them from his distance away. A glare growing along his forehead as she seemed to agree with Jeremy that he needed a leash. Gavin swallowed down the insult and rolled his eyes not impressed.

Gavin's glare had easily morphed into a grin before laughter erupted causing his chest to tremble. Leaning forward on the couch, both of his hands would clap loudly as he had cheered on his friend who not only punched her boyfriend in the face but insulted his family jewels, ouch! "Girl's got spunk!" A wide grin growing as Gavin chuckled while the rest of the room had continued to laugh at Lorelei's insult.

A pair of smooth, svelte legs would cross the distance as Lorelei stood in front of the white couch. "I may look like shit but at least I have both of my testicle's." He teased before he stood up, his height towering above her petite frame. "Because trouble is my middle name." A tongue would moisten his bottom lip that had been cut. "Besides, I had fun. Jeremy and I really shared some good male bonding." A curl of a large hand would coil around Lorelei's waist as he left both air heads behind on the couch for Lorelei. "Well, what can I say I have places to go and people to do." A sly wink offered to the emerald-hued beauty before Gavin chuckled. "Besides, I don't care what you say no guy fuck's around on you. You're hardly delicate but I'm the only asshole in your life." Olive eyes would deeply penetrate her gaze as he walked past the crowd who watched the two of them depart from the house and outside. The loud crash of the ocean waves reverberating in the background.

"We both know my bite is worse than my bark." Gavin's hand fell off her curvy hip as he turned to face her. Gavin would take the time to really digest her wardrobe before he moved down to sit onto the lounge chair. "You look beautiful." Gavin rarely complimented but when he did it was genuine especially if it was Lorelei. "Jeremy is gonna be whining like a little bitch now that you humiliated him." Gavin's hands would interlock behind the back of his neck. "At least you'll have plenty of college boys to enchant with your feminine wiles." He grinned but Gavin Mitchell didn't know just how 'enchanting' Lorelei Ashford could be or what she was really capable of. He had been one of the lucky ones who hadn't felt her wraith, yet.

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Lorelei Ashford Wed May 12, 2010 11:27 pm

It was obvious to anyone that had witnessed the scene before their eyes that Lorelei Ashford needed no help from anyone. Ever since she was a child, the enchantress had made it own point to show everyone that she could easily take care of herself. She kept up appearances and played nice with her peers, but anyone who ever crossed her would be sorry. Her will was free and boundless; nothing could ever bring her down. There weren’t any chains or shackles to keep her locked up behind closed doors. Lorelei was her own person with an intelligent mind—one that she wanted others to appreciate. She was more than a gorgeous body and a smile. She had accepted the fact that boys her age couldn’t understand or value what she truly was and yet she was tired of the same familiar routines. Jeremy had been just a passing phase, a ken doll she could bring to prom. She never officially entered into a relationship with him; he was just a means to an end. Lorelei would get her picture and another victory added to her already growing list. He hadn’t been a challenge therefore the conquest wasn’t as satisfying. Gavin Mitchell on the other hand was an enigma to her. He had been the only one to never show any interest in her beyond an overwhelming need to crowd her personal space. She would always be viewed as William’s little cousin—nothing more. While she didn’t care if he ever saw her as anything else, she was used to people falling at her feet with no more than a bat of her long dark lashes. He had been the exception, yet it was clear to see that he had the same male tendencies for every other woman but her. The idea of that was crazy—in the end it mattered little to her.

Gavin was a pain her in ass and for whatever reason they shared a strange bond. He would always be there though, something she had come to acknowledge. She might not have been facing him, but Lorelei could literally feel his dark olive hues burning holes in her back. An unconscious shiver would run up and down her spine, as her attention would appear directed towards Jeremy. She always knew he was a worthless snob who liked to act tough. Pathetic really, though she didn’t feel sorry for him. Despite the fact that she had agreed with Jeremy’s assessment of Gavin, he should have known it was only for pretenses. It was common knowledge that Lorelei Ashford and Gavin Mitchell shared a particular brand of banter that only applied to them—a never-ending battle. As the palm of her hand connected with Jeremy’s cheek, she could barely feel any sting. Laughter filled her ears; the enchanter didn’t need to turn around to see that it was Gavin. He would have been amused by that and she didn’t care if everyone was watching her at the present moment. It was high time that someone put Jeremy Cole in his proper place and Lorelei was just the one to do it. She didn’t need encouragement from the peanut gallery, which was why she ignored his cheers, although that wouldn’t stop the concealed smirk from curling at the corners of her lips. Breathing in deeply, a weight was lifted off her shoulders. The enchantress didn’t need a man and she could easily replace them if she so wished.

Closing the distance between them, smooth curves would sway gently from side to side as the light played on her dark features. She ignored the two bimbos sitting on either side of him as her head tilted towards the side. “For now you do, but you never know, you may just piss off one of your fan club members and find yourself lacking.” Not that she ever wanted to see his in the first place. It was no secret that a gaggle of females had chased after the infamous Mitchell twin. Lorelei had never been one of them and she had made her opinions known. Eyes rolled to the heavens as she shook her head—he really could be cheesy sometimes. “Oh yes, I’m sure groping another man excites you both.” Before she knew it, his hand had curled around her back as she turned to face the exit, like second nature. Without any thought, she allowed him to guide her to the porch. “I’m sure you have people to do.” Smirking, their repartee had turned playful. They weren’t always at each other’s throats, despite popular belief. She caught the wink from the corner of her emerald hues as the heavy base dulled the click of her heels. Surprise and amusement momentarily passed as her brow returned to the arch. “And what makes you so special?” While Gavin had lived next door to the Ashford Manor all her life, she never really questioned his reason for hanging around. He was always her cousin’s best friend; she never labeled him as her friend. Something felt oddly right about his label, but she couldn’t put her finger on it. Stepping outside into the cool breeze once more, Lorelei would look around before sitting on the end of his lounge chair.

Hands would curl around the side of the chair behind her as she rested her weight on her palms. The full moon glowed above which had caused her auburn tresses to glow. “I think you mean your bark is worst than bite.” She couldn’t stop the chuckle that escaped, as she would reach for her neck, fingertips gently massaging the smooth curve that was revealed. “You don’t have to compliment me Gavin, I already know what you really are.” After seventeen years she had watched his games, she couldn’t deny the effect he had on women. Majority would willingly give themselves to him if it would get them five minutes of his time. She hadn’t taken him seriously as she glanced in his direction. “He deserved it, I wasn’t planning on keeping in touch anyway. You just gave me an excuse.” It would have ended by the end of the summer and both of them would go on with their lives. It didn’t matter in the end. “As if I need that in my life.” He didn’t realize how truly close to the mark he was. Lorelei Ashford could easily enchant any man to her charms—her powers could bend anyone’s will to her own. A rather unladylike snort would follow as she pictured her college life. While she craved the freedom it would bring her, she doubted she would find anyone worthy to challenge her abilities. Gavin had never learned the truth about her family, even after all this time. He could never know, which was why he would always remain an outsider to her world. Where her future would take her she didn’t know, but she didn’t have a diviner’s powers to see how their lives would intertwine. Arms would lazily stretch above her head as her back arched. “I’m sure you’re looking forward to seeing your harem back at school.” Hands fell back to her sides as the sliding door was closed and the sound of music inside was dulled. The waves played against the shore as the salty sea air tickled her lips. Instinctively the tip of her tongue would drag across her lips to moisten them.

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Gavin Mitchell Thu May 13, 2010 12:43 pm

Peering down at his jeans, Gavin smirked devilishly. “I can assure you Ms. Ashford there is nothing lacking here. Besides, we both know I piss off a bunch of people your boy toy included but there are always other fish in the sea.” He winked slyly to her as the alabaster set of teeth were revealed glistening under the lighting of the beach house. Gavin was cocky and Lorelei knew it but the twenty-year old had his reasons. That smug grin never fading from his full lips as his smile broadened and his olive eyes twinkled mischievously. Both girls on his arms chuckled simultaneously in perfect harmony. A small turn of his neck would cause a few of the vertebrae to snap back into place. “Yes, you know how whiny little bitches like Jeremy get me excited.” Sarcasm slithered off his tongue like venom as that grin never faded from Gavin’s lips as he sat forward. “Besides, I’m not the one who fooled around with him that was all on you. So what’s that saying about you ah, princess?” Gavin’s turn to chuckle now as he stood up. “Clearly you have awful taste but that’s to be expected with your sheltered life.” A playful jest on his part but Gavin didn’t understand why Lorelei had been sheltered. He assumed her family had been overly religious or just overly protective of their rebellious daughter. Extending his arms, Gavin would stretch as both bones popped in his shoulders from being double jointed. “I always have people to do but I took time out of my very busy schedule to make time for you.” That statement was much more true than Gavin had let on. While he had a harem of adoring women both younger and older he made a habit of blowing them off for the emerald eyed beauty. While Gavin never pondered the reasons why he had always assumed it was because she was his friend. A term he didn’t remark lightly.

As both enchanter and human were privately secluded out on the porch Gavin would immediately turn his head in her direction. “I don’t know, my bite and my bark are both pretty vicious.” His smooth velvet voice spoke clearly over the crashing serenity of the ocean waves. A flash of dark hunter green would faintly illuminate behind Gavin’s eyes as she had rejected his compliment. Something inside him felt as though she had kicked him in the gut. Gavin didn’t compliment her to butter her up or seduce her. Dark green eyes immediately focused their anger out to the thrashing waves by the horizon. “No, Ashford, you’ve only witnessed a fraction of the real me.” His voice had dropped in volume as his hands had clenched behind his head. Why did her opinion matter at all? She had everything she wanted and more. Shaking his head, Gavin couldn’t help the nagging sensation she had provoked inside him. No girl had ever rejected his compliment but she rudely slammed the door on his face because she assumed he was a player. While Gavin had chased plenty of girls, he was confident, good looking, and cocky that wasn’t all he was.

Sitting forward, Gavin tried to roll off Lorelei’s words but he couldn’t deny the sting they offered him. A fake smile was forced, “Yeah, you know me well. Getting laid is what I’m all about.” Peering down, Gavin stared at the floor his shoe lightly rubbing on the painted wood. “College girls will be more of a challenge.” Standing up, Gavin moved away from the lounge chair as he descended a few of the stairs. Leaning up against the white post that wrapped around the porch. Folding his arms across the black fabric clinging to his muscled chest, the contours well defined underneath the shirt. The moon hanging high in the murky sky as he glanced up at it. A giggle echoed along the sand as Madison Kline ran by with her new boyfriend Jackson. Gavin watched the sultry brunette before he glared in their direction. Madison had been one of the few girls he started to like. Yet, it was Gavin’s affections that had pushed her away into the arms of another guy. An older college guy. It had happened earlier that year and it was the real reason Gavin gave up on love. He found it to be a weakness and he swore he’d never allow other girl in his heart, ever. He’d parade around the college campus seducing as many women as he could. Conquering them like the Roman’s conquered land. Madison’s blue eyes glanced up as she noticed Gavin and she awkwardly looked away.

Running a hand through his short, spiked hair, Gavin’s chest exhaled as he no longer wanted to be at the party. “Well, Ashford, I’ll see you around. Have a good night, hot stuff.” It had been one of the many nick names he had given her as he moved to step down onto the beach. Long, muscled legs carried him away from the house and in the opposite direction of Madison and her boyfriend. A gentle breeze blowing along Gavin’s clothes as each hand sunk into the pocket of his pants. Madison glanced over her shoulder as she watched Gavin thoughtfully, tucking a long strand of her chocolate hair away from her glossy lips. Perhaps there really was more to Gavin Mitchell than just getting laid and chasing girls after all.

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Lorelei Ashford Fri May 14, 2010 8:29 pm

There was no question where his gaze was directed to, but Lorelei Ashford refused to follow it. That devilish smirk was enough warning for the enchantress and there was no need for her to fill his already huge ego. “As always you are incorrigible Mr. Mitchell.” Gavin didn’t need any more encouragement nor did she have any curiosity to know. When he wasn’t suffocating her, she considered him a close friend of the family. To even consider him as anything else would be just wrong—right? Mentally shaking her head, she pushed those thoughts to the side. It didn’t matter anyway, he would never see her as anything more than a little sister or at least that’s what she assumed. And to top it all off, she could never fathom the idea. Not because he wasn’t adequate to her tastes—in fact, based on physical appearance he was just her type. In the end, he would drive her insane, after all they were constantly at each other’s throats.

He had been the only one who had managed to get under her skin to the point where she lost her calm demeanor. Collected, astute, and clear headedness were just a few traits the enchantress prided in herself but around the doll-eyed Casanova they were almost nonexistent. She never enjoyed losing her temper, even though it was a full force to deal with if one were to cross her. Lorelei was willing to stand up for her beliefs as well as speak her mind. Which was something that the Gavin Mitchell had experienced many times. He could effortlessly lay on the charm, as she would just as simply knock him down a few pegs. That smirk of his irked her in such a way that she felt an overwhelming need to wipe it away; for whatever reason it ate at her very core. Even though her attention was on him, she couldn’t help but notice the two leeches clinging to him. Desperate much? She didn’t understand it, how could anyone lower themselves to a point where they were physically throwing themselves on a person?

Lorelei Ashford had too much pride to ever allow her vulnerabilities to seep through her mask. “Indubitably.” His sarcasm was easy to detect while fingertips brushed aside a strand of hair away from her face before curling it around her ear. Shifting her weight from one foot to the other, hands were outstretched in front of her, as if she were putting a halt on the conversation. “There’s a difference between using someone for amusement and being desperate, the latter doesn’t apply to me as you well know.” Lorelei always had an end game, a plan to her mechanisms that couldn’t be faltered. The enchanter always had a point to prove and it never mattered how minuet the detail had been. Her taste was impeccable but currently she felt no need to pair herself off with another individual. Jeremy had been a passing phase and the only reason she had even bothered to say yes had been for payback simply.

The high school jock was a pawn in her game and she had secured him over her rival—she had obtained the bragging rights and won. “He was a means to an end, nothing more.” Eyes rolled towards the heavens as she further reiterated that point. It was no secret that the Ashford siblings had been kept under close supervision. While she was allowed to go out on her own, there were rules to follow to ensure that the past next came back to haunt them again. It had been eleven years since she and the others had been kidnapped. True, the Leopolds were still out there but what harm could they do? The Ashford Manor had full proof enchantments and protective barriers to conceal their deep, dark secret from the rest of the world. They were safe and there was no need to outdated security measures. That argument alone had won Lorelei her freedom to dorm at Colombia. Times needed to change. “Did you want me to beg my thanks?” He could easily see the smirk on her painted lips while she eyed him through long lashes. Pricks of laughter edged every word as she made to bow in front of him in a mocking gesture. Her playful disposition was second nature to the enchantress—it was the embodiment of her abilities. Enchanters were known to manipulate and trick the mind into believing whatever they wanted. Left to their own devices on the balcony, they would have some peace and quiet away from the ditzy females and hormonal males out to grasp their attention. While she would never admit it to herself, Gavin’s company had always been more intriguing. “I wouldn’t know. I tend to hear a lot babbling but rarely listen.” She couldn’t help but tease him further as she mimicked him talking with her hand. Nudging his foot with the side of her arm, she stretched across the end of his chair, resting against her elbows. In an instance their surroundings grew colder and she felt something change. “Is that so?” She could detect the change in his tone and demeanor.

As an enchanter she had come to understand the human mind in a very unique way. With seventeen years of his company, Lorelei had observed Gavin in a way few others had been privied to. His moods could shift in the blink of an eye but he was always quick to hide his true feelings. She knew the signs and had easily related to the man sitting beside her. Her tone would match his own as she dissected what she could. The enchantress could have sworn she saw a flash behind his dark pools. It seemed as though every muscle in his body tensed through the flimsy wife beater. “…With majority of the female population.” Not all and yet she had never seen him in a serious relationship for as long as she had known him. While he was still young she couldn’t accept his need to sow his oats with the larger society. College was a chance to explore your surroundings and for many it wasn’t a time to settle down with the one. Words trailed off as she tried to feel him out, treading carefully. They were barely sitting a foot apart as he sat up before her. “A challenge? And here I thought women threw themselves at you.” As he stood up, her own body relaxed slightly with the distance now between them.

Without warning, moments later he announced his departure. She hadn’t expected him to try to leave. “Wait one second—“ Before she could stop herself, Lorelei pushed herself off the lounge chair without even thinking. With quick footsteps she descended the short staircase. Automatically a delicate hand would reach out to fall on his shoulder as she tried to stop him. Circling around his towering form, she stood between him and the ocean as her back was facing towards it. “I could use a ride home since Jeremy stormed out. If you don’t mind that is.” Logically he lived next door so there shouldn’t have been any inconvenience. Despite that, she couldn’t help but feel slightly out of place for asking him. Dark emerald hues would bore into his olive ones as the ocean breeze caused the skirt of her dress to sway. She would press the palms of her hands against her dress to prevent it from blowing up; a chill running up and down her spine, waiting for a response. Jeremy had picked her up that night and they had come to the party together. William had opted to not attend, otherwise she would have asked him. The enchanter could have been able to easily obtain a ride from someone else and yet she didn’t feel the need to explore her options. Her first had been him; she didn’t feel like bothering anyone else. Subconsciously she recalled the brief look on his face as the couple had passed by. While she never kept abreast of his current status, she had recognized the girl. Gavin Mitchell, like Lorelei, had never been involved in a serious relationship. She had her reasons, but he could have had anyone without complication. He didn’t have to worry about appearances or family secrets.

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Gavin Mitchell Sat May 15, 2010 4:17 pm

The sultry soft voice of Lorelei Ashford would carry over the pounding ocean waves causing Gavin to stop walking. He turned in the direction of her voice instructing him to wait. What did she want? His curiosity peaking as she crossed the distance between them. A faint brush of her hand would flirt its way across his broad shoulder. It had been just enough to grasp his attention as he turned around to face her. Gavin's green eyes staring deeply into her emerald ones. What was it about her that intrigued him? There always had been a mysterious allure about her. Almost like she was living a double life or kept some sort of secret. Gavin knew Lora was a very private person and he never barged into her life unless it involved a disrespectful male. As curious as he was to know more about her he didn't surrender to it and instead tried to vanquish those thoughts from his mind. Gavin's ears keenly listened to her request, she needed a ride home. A curt nod was given, "Sure, that's not a problem." Cool and collected his palm slithered along the small of her back absentmindedly to usher her along. It was then that he had noticed Madison staring at them. Seeing her again with her boyfriend felt like tiny knives being stabbed into his gut. Shrugging it off, Gavin walked side-by-side Lorelei as his hand fell away from her spine. "As much as you give me grief, I'll always help you out, Lora."

Gavin would lead Lorelei down along the beach to the back of the parking lot next to the beach house. The moon glistening across the classic midnight 1969 Dodge Charger. Gavin had purchased it from a junk yard and in his mechanics class and in his spare time he and his friends fixed it up. The car shinned like new as his shoes would hit along the asphalt as he moved along to the passenger side. Reaching into his jeans, Gavin plucked out silver keys as it was deposited into the lock. A quick turn and a pull of the handle and the car door was opened for Lorelei. Gavin stood behind the open car door that lead to black leather seats. He would help her in before shutting the door and walking around the hood to the driver's side. Unlocking his door and slithering into the cool seat, Gavin would shut his door. Slipping the key into the ignition the muscle car roared to life. He always had a fascination and infatuation with classic cars. His father had owned a Chevy Impala that Gavin absolutely loved. But his father had given the car over to Sebastian as a present for his graduation. Something that secretly made Gavin bitter. His baby brother got everything.

Gripping the stick shift, Gavin would place the car in gear as his foot would collide with the silver petal as they drove off into the night. The radio had been on playing a random song as Gavin leaned back into his seat. His left arm loosely hung over the steering wheel of his car. It had been quiet for a few seconds before Gavin would turn to look at her. "You hungry? I was thinking of picking up a pizza on the way home and some movies if you're game?" His eyes turned to focus back onto the road as his right hand moved the stick shift into another gear as the car accelerated along the coast of the beach. "I'm absolutely starving." He admitted as the car softly rolled to a stop at the light. Dozens of restaurants, shopping plaza's, and hotels lined up along the coast of the highway. Another car rolled to a stop next to them. A 1969 Firebird as the two males glanced their way. They purposely revved their engine causing Gavin to look their way, looking over their car. His arm hanging out the window before he grinned devilishly. So, the punks wanted to race. As the light flicked green, Gavin gunned the engine as his hand swiftly gripped the stick shift and threw it into gear. His tires screeching as their car zoomed forward as he chuckled. Peering back into his rear view mirror as the other car raced to catch them. "Pussy." He mumbled under his breath as he chuckled as his car easily smoked them. His dust blowing behind in the other cars face.

Gavin would turn right onto one of the best Pizzeria's in town as he easily slide the car into a parking spot. "Let's do that again!" He grinned before he grabbed his keys out and walked around to Lorelei's door to help her out. Shutting her door he walked beside her to the Pizzeria as he opened the door for Lorelei, "Ladies first." He winked before following her inside. The wonderful aroma of Italian food flooded his senses as he groaned and his stomach growled. Gavin licked his lips as he peered up along the menu as the owners greeted him and Lorelei. Both were regular customers here and like any real Pizzeria you were treated like family. Stepping up to the counter Gavin smirked at the Italian beauty behind it. "Hey Gav." She smiled before waving to Lorelei. Bella went to school with them and unlike Gavin's other air head conquests, Bella had been on the debate team, cross-country team, swim tea, student government, etc. She was beautiful and intelligent. "Hey Bella, I'm gonna need a large cheese pizza. Any toppings Lorelei wants on it is fine with me, a litter of pepsi, and throw in some garlic bread." Reaching behind his pocket for his black leather wallet and plucking out some cash. Gavin had worked as a bouncer at a night club on school nights. He wasn't enough to bartend but when he turned twenty-one he would. After ringing them up, Gavin grabbed the large pizza box and turned to Lorelei, "Got the soda and garlic bread?" Both would exit the pizzeria and depart for the car as he unlocked it and placed it in the back seat.

There was a Blockbuster video across from the Pizzeria. "No chick flicks this time, Ashford!" He grinned as he shut his car door and walked beside the enchantress as they walked inside the popular video store. Gavin went to the new releases looking for something horror worthy, his favorite genre. He and Lorelei shared a similar taste for movies. It had been Lorelei who had a vast library of DVD's she had been collecting since Junior High. Gavin only had a few hundred but not nearly as large as Lora's. Gavin moved to grab Legion as he read the back of the cover and grabbing the rental. It wasn't uncommon for the Enchantress and the human to spend the evening together. Surprisingly, Gavin never tried to seduce Lora or consider it a 'date.' A few people often believed Lora and Gavin were an item but both laughed or scoffed at the idea. Gavin's thick fingers also grabbed Daybreakers with a grin before he walked over to Lorelei to see what she picked. He nodded before gently taking them from her and taking them to the front to pay for them.

Once back inside the car, Gavin peeled out of the parking lot for home. "My parents are having company over. So I'm suggesting we watch them over at your place. My parents might force me to be socialible with the Harris' and that's all I need." Pulling into his drive way, Gavin would turn off the classic car as he grabbed the pizza box in one arm and the bag of movies in the other. He walked around to open Lorelei's door before shutting it. Luxurious cars lined up across their block as people could be seen from inside the Mitchell manor. Gavin shook his head, "God, save me. It's all I need my parents pressuring me to go to a good college." Gavin had always been stubborn and a bit of an enigma. He preferred to go to the college of his choosing and not because it looked good on a resume'. "Your choice, hot stuff."

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Lorelei Ashford Wed Jun 02, 2010 3:50 pm

Their relationship was based on a game of tug-of-war. Depending on the situation, control would be pulled in opposite directions—both of them wanted it and yet neither would fully have it. Just as the edge was near, that control was snatched back and the tables would turn. Once in a while their game would come to a mutual halt until one of them would start the sequence up again. That process was endless and the cycle was guaranteed to repeat itself. Outside her family, Gavin Mitchell had been the only one to truly find his way under her skin—the same applied to him vice versa. There were times when they both pushed the envelope too far and for whatever reason, Lorelei had felt it had been one of those times. She wasn’t completely oblivious to his mood changes. Something had sparked his need to retreat. While she really did need a ride, the enchantress could have asked anyone. Despite this, she had asked Gavin which would allow her to continue their time together. Usually she would avoid him like the plague but this time she would make an exception—her curiosity outweighed her need for self-preservation. Gavin may have been an outsider when it came to the arcane families but she still considered him close. In some cases the Mitchell family would be considered closer to them than families in the abjuration and divination families. The workings of the arcane system were complex and based on centuries of history. At the turn of the twentieth century, chaos had struck the foundation of their cause. It was the first time any member had used their powers on another. Since that time, meetings of the mind were few and none, which became even fewer when the children were kidnapped. Gavin was unaware of her life in reality, he wouldn’t understand.

Little did she know that one day all that would change and he would become entangled in the same mess Lorelei had been in since the moment she was born. She was an enigma to the world, no one outside their circle knew the truth and in many ways her life was sheltered. He simply thought her parents were overbearing and protective, which was true but the reasons behind it were not what he would have expected. The smile continued to flirt at the corners of her lips as she caught up with him. The hand placed on his shoulder briefly felt warm but only lasted for a moment. It was a simple request, not too burdensome—especially since he lived next door. Despite his retreat, he wouldn’t deny her. A hand rose to hold back the wild locks of her auburn hair as a gust of wind picked up from the ocean. Emerald hues danced as a chuckled managed to escape from her rosebud lips. Fingers gripped the scattered strands before turning against the wind. “Thanks Mitchell.” His hand brushed against the small of her back, a gesture that she would have found unusual had it been anyone else. It felt comforting as he led the way to his Charger. Lorelei wasn’t oblivious to the eyes that were following them. A hidden smirk would be shielded by the sweet smile. Purposely her shoulder slightly nudged Gavin’s as her hand coiled around his own, gently tugging at it—she set the stage and gave Madison a nice view. While Gavin never shared his personal life when it came to serious feelings, the enchanter could read the signs and yet she would never hold them against him. “Good to know I have a get-out-of-jail-free card.” The walk hadn’t taken long as the two crossed the beach to reach his car.

She easily caught a glimpse of the midnight black body within the parking lot as it stood out like a gem. It was his pride and joy. Lorelei could remember the sweat and hard work he had put himself through into fixing it up. A freshman at the time, the little she-devil had taken it upon herself to enchant the color to a lovely shade of Barbie-doll pink after a very public incident in the cafeteria involving her fling at the time. Unfortunately for the enchantress, William had been the first one to walk through the door. Before their mutual friend could find out, he returned the car to its original state. After that she had literally been ordered to stay away. Lorelei didn’t have to listen but her older cousin had threatened to make their parents informed of her extracurricular activities. Her own family had blackmailed her for a friend—she was his family, not Gavin. Four years had passed since then and while the joke would have been hilarious, William really was only looking out for her. She would never accept that but she wouldn’t hold it against him. Nodding her head, Lorelei would slide into the passenger as he closed the door behind her. They quickly pulled out of the parking lot and were off as her elbow rested against the window ledge. Her cheek would be cradled in the palm of her hand as she stared out the window while he turned on the radio. Long, dark lashes would blink momentarily as she turned to give him a glance. “When am I not?” It was a well-known fact that Lorelei always had a craving for Italian food—it was her favorite. It didn’t matter if she wasn’t hungry, the minute someone would mention it she would be there. Add on a movie and it was a recipe for the perfect evening.

Even though she was a social butterfly, Lorelei Ashford could appreciate a quite night at home. Sometimes it paid off to escape the public whirl instead of being thrust onto a stage. “Why am I not surprised? Your stomach is a bottomless pit.” One leg would idly cross over the other as they slowed in front of a red light. From the corner of her gaze she would catch sight of the Firebird gleaming underneath the streetlights. A brow would rise at the two men sitting parallel to them as if they were a minor detail in the grand scheme of things. At the sound of the revving engines, dark hues rolled towards the heavens—boys with toys couldn’t resist a need to display their masculinity. It was an extension of what they seemed to lack downstairs, especially when it came to their cars. Before she could chastise him, both cars had taken off and she was pushed back into her seat. His laughter filled the small car as she playfully slapped his arm. “Sometimes I wonder about you…” Words trailed off as she shook her head and sighed. Lorelei didn’t care one way or another, but the eldest Mitchell had always felt a need to compete with the world from what she witnessed. Any challenge he would take, it didn’t matter what it was—he would just do it. Ten minutes later they pulled into a spot in front of the local pizzeria. She had been coming here since she was a little girl and everyone knew everyone. Stepping from the vehicle, she made her way to the door, as he would open it for her. “Since when did you ever consider me a lady?” With the tip of her finger she would poke his side before waving to the girl behind the counter. “I’m going to make John give you a night off, it’s summer! You miss all the fun!” The amusement was clear as sarcasm managed to sweep its way in.

She had always like Bella and the girl only laughed as she looked over at one of the owners who through his hands up in the air. Lorelei had purposely raised her voice so that he could hear while her elbows rested on the marble countertop. “Over at CI again? Usual I take it?” She nodded her confirmation to both questions as she leaned over the counter. “You know it, we bailed early.” Bella wouldn’t be surprised; she had listened to her tales for years. While she never frequented the social scene often because she had to work to pay for school, Bella had heard enough to know what normally went on. It didn’t take long for the pie to cook as she swiped up the small bag containing the garlic knots and drinks. With a wave, the door jingled as they left and the two of them were back in the car. “Of course I do, now drive grandpa before it gets cold.” Tucking her seatbelt into the buckle, she heard the click and held on to the bag. Their next spot was the video store, which was only across the street. “Well if you think we’re going to get another one of your movies, you have another thing coming.” Dropping the bag down to the floor, Lorelei wouldn’t wait for him to open the door for her this time as she pushed through. Bright lights filled the room as she entered the first isle to browse the selection. It didn't take long for her to find two movies of her own, Pirate Radio and Valentine's day just to lord it over him. While no one had blatantly asked her about her relationship with Gavin, it wasn't hard to figure out where their assumptions lied. It was almost preposterous--she would never date Gavin Mitchell in a million years. They were like cats and dogs and when they weren't fighting, their families were extremely close to one another. It would almost be like dating her brother if she ever considered it.

No one really understood but in the end it didn't really matter to her. They were friends, for lack of a better way to describe it. Leaving Blockbuster, the drive home would only take another fifteen minutes but when they reached the driveway they were welcomed by a long row of cars lined up. "I'll take pity on you this time." Lorelei could understand his frustration as she waved him to go on. "My parents are probably there anyway so come on." Making sure to grab the bags, she led him to the large front door of the Ashford Manor. Fiddling inside her purse, she pulled out a set of keys with a crystal keychain dangling from it. With her shoulder she pushed open the door and the minute she was inside, she kicked off her shoes and flipped on the lights. No one was home and the maids had left for the day. He knew his way around by now as she turned right as she entered the living room. Beyond that was the kitchen with a set of stairs leading down to the basement where the home theater could be found. Entering the kitchen, she walked over towards the cabinets as she stood on tip toe to reach a pair of glasses.

Those Summer Nights Empty Re: Those Summer Nights

Post  Gavin Mitchell Sun Jul 04, 2010 5:10 pm

"You're so kind to take pity on me." Sarcasm dripped off his tongue as he winked slyly at her. Gavin had been jesting as he drove past his drive way to pull into her driveway. Turning off the engine of his muscle car he got out as he grabbed the large pizza box and movies. He walked behind Lorelei slowly with a cocky swagger swiveling in his muscled hips. Had Lorelei been any other woman he would have seduced her but since she was an annoying brat he didn't take that liberty. The two had a bi-polar relationship that varied from day to day. One second they were passionately fighting and the next they were watching a movie or playing video games.

Gavin patiently waited next to the door frame as the auburn haired beauty plucked her keys from her purse. The crystal glistening under the moon's glow, catching his attention as he looked closely at it. Taking a mental note of it before walking inside with her, shutting the door softly closed. Gavin had been inside the Ashford Manor countless times. It was a large manor but nothing that scared him away. A few kids at school couldn't handle Lorelei coming from money but Gavin never cared. Kicking off his shoes, white cotton sock clad feet walked across the room to enter into the kitchen. Setting the pizza box and other goodies down onto the counter he noticed Lorelei reaching for a glass. He grinned as he walked up behind her. Thick hands rested on her hips, "I got this, shorty." A chuckle escaped his lips as he ushered over as he grabbed two drinking glasses to hand them to her. Gavin turned to look at her before he walked over to the fridge to grab a pitcher of iced tea. Walking back over to pour some in each glass.

It wasn't long before Gavin and Lorelei headed downstairs to the home theater room. Gavin had taken it upon himself to settle into the cozy recliner. A round plate with two pieces of pizza had settled in his lap. Folding up the breaded crust as he took a hungry bite as the coming attractions played loudly from the Sony Bravia theater system. "See, hanging out with me is so much better than that prick." Gavin smugly grinned before wiping the drizzle of grease from his bottom lip. Reaching over to the crystal glass of iced tea he thirstily chugged it half way down. Settling the glass back down onto the table next to his chair.

As the menu screen came on Valentine's Day Gavin rolled his eyes. "Great, another sappy film." He protested as the movie began. Truthfully, Gavin didn't mind romantic comedies. Some would argue that Lorelei was the reason he watched them. Gavin was the kind of guy who adored action flicks and horror movies but it seemed even he had branched out in his movie collection.

Hours later had passed now as the clock read 3:00 AM and he was pretty sure the party at his house would be finishing up. All movies had been watched and the food had been put away. Gavin still remained sprawled out on the recliner chair. "Well, I suppose I should head back." Lorelei's cell phone rang and Gavin snatched it up to see who it was. "Oooh, it's the boy toy! He's probably drunk and going to apologize." He chuckled to hand her cell phone back as he stood up. Both arms raising above his head to stretch as each bone cracked loudly as he groaned. The door to Ashford Manor opened as Lorelei's family entered. "Guess that's my que to leave." Gavin took the dvd's as he waved good-bye to his friend and jogged up the stairs. He waved Lorelei's family before excusing himself. Walking outside and into his car to pull out of the driveway and head back over to his house.

Gavin's place was now empty and his parents had retired for bed. He had parked his car and headed into his room. Kicking off his shoes and peeling off his socks. There was something different about Lorelei that he couldn't quite figure out yet. She was the only girl he hadn't slept with and the one he respected. But why did his blood boil when other guys came near her? Gavin scoffed at the thought. No, he couldn't like Lorelei. Could he?
